Courses are offered complimentary to all registered Conference participants and are replacing Tutorials that were offered until HCII2024 upon an additional registration fee.

COURSES WILL BE RUN either 'in-person' or 'on-line'

to accommodate the needs of all participants

Courses aim to provide practical guidance

at introductory, intermediate or advanced level, regarding any of the Conference topics

Attendees are expected to increase their knowledge and skills

in their profession or research area, through a 4-hour session, including a 30-minute break

Accepted Courses will be announced in the Conference website

providing a detailed description and short CV of the instructor(s)

Submission Guidelines FOR INSTRUCTORS

Deadline for proposal submission: 18 October 2024

Notification of review outcome: 15 November 2024

Deadline for Course handout submission: 9 May 2025

Courses will be offered at introductory, intermediate or advanced level covering topics from the spectrum of the various areas of the Conference.

Courses will run either as ‘in-person’ or as ‘virtual’ events. Prospective instructors should be ready to deliver Courses either ‘in-person’ to an audience of up to 40 people in classroom seating, or 'on-line' (with no preset limit of participants).

Prospective instructors are required to submit through the CMS their proposal that should include:

  • Title 
  • Instructor(s) contact details (name, affiliation, country, email)
  • Course modality (in-person, virtual)
  • Course level (introductory, intermediate, advanced)
  • Target audience (researchers/academics, students, professionals, industry, other)
  • Abstract (a 300-word summary of the Course)
  • Description of benefits for attendees
  • Content of the Course (i.e., aims, objectives and topics to be covered and a tentative table of contents)
  • Description of any hands-on part and/or exercises
  • A sample of the Course’s material as an attachment (optional)
  • Course history: a list of previously presented relevant Courses / tutorials / classes
  • For ‘in-person’ Courses, any additional equipment required on top of the provided equipment (a projection screen and a projector or a large monitor, a sound system with a microphone, a camera, and a laptop PC connected to internet)
  • For ‘in-person’ Courses, any material or office supplies required
  • For either ‘in-person’ or ‘virtual’ Courses: any specific requirements for participants (e.g. access to a particular software, use of laptop or tablet, previous knowledge)
  • Short bio of instructor(s) 

PARTICIPATION

Participation in the Courses is complimentary for registered Conference participants:

  • ‘Virtual’ participants can attend any ‘virtual’ Course. 
  • ‘In-person’ participants can attend any ‘in-person’ or ‘virtual’ Course. 

No advance enrollment is required for attending a Course. Entrance in the ‘in-person’ Courses’ meeting rooms will be on a first-come-first-served basis.

All Courses will be recorded. The recordings along with the Courses' handouts (in PDF format) will be available to all Conference participants, for one month after the Conference. Course material should not contain sensitive, private, or proprietary information that should not be disclosed.

Copyright issues:

  • The copyright of Course material remains with the instructor(s).
  • Instructors are responsible for obtaining any required permissions for any copyrighted material in the Course material.
  • All Conference participants will be able to download any Course handout, but not the recording.
  • Conference participants will be duly informed that the Course material is copyrighted by the Instructors.
